Missions in Australia

When people think of missions, Australia often isn't the first place that comes to mind. But all across the nation there are people who have still never heard the name of Jesus or experienced His love for themselves. Whether it's in the cities, country towns, or remote communities, so many people are searching for hope and purpose.It's such a privilege to be part of what He's already doing - sharing the gospel, discipling people, and helping build a strong foundation for others to step into all that God has for them. Joel and I are especially passionate about seeing worship and prayer become the backbone of everything we do, believing that lasting transformation starts in God's presence. We also have a real heart for the Kimberley and are excited to see what God continues to do there in the years ahead. Our prayer is simple: that more Australians would come to know Jesus, and that lives, families, and communities would be transformed by His love.

Joel Kupfer & Madison Smith

God has been so intentional in bringing Joel and I together, and it's been such a joy to serve Him side by side. Since we met, we've had the privilege of ministering together in Australia and overseas, and we've discovered a shared passion for seeing people encounter Jesus and grow in their faith. We love serving wherever God leads, whether that's through discipleship, evangelism, worship, or simply walking alongside people. Our heart is to see lives transformed by God's love and to be available wherever He calls us.

THE KIMBERLEY REGION

The Kimberley is a vast and remote region of Australia, covering over 422,000 square kilometres - roughly 60,000 more than Germany - yet home to only around 40,000 people across more than 200 Indigenous communities. Behind the beauty of the region is a deep need for hope, healing, and restoration, with many communities facing isolation, brokenness, and challenges around identity and purpose.There is also a significant spiritual battle taking place across the Kimberley, with many areas affected by strongholds of fear, darkness, and spiritual oppression. If the Kimberley was its own country, it would have one of the highest suicide rates in the world, highlighting the desperate need for hope, freedom, and transformation.We believe God deeply loves the Kimberley and has a purpose for His people. Our heart is to serve through building genuine relationships and bringing the love of Jesus into everyday life. This looks like visiting families in their homes, running kids programs, supporting local schools during teacher shortages, building relationships through community activities like fishing, prayer walking through towns, and creating spaces for worship and prayer. Through these simple acts of love and presence, we are believing to see more lives transformed, communities strengthened, and people encounter the hope and freedom found in Jesus.

Ministry Focus

At the moment, we're serving in full-time missions in Perth, Western Australia. A big part of our role is to lead Discipleship Training Schools (DTS), where we have the privilege of mentoring students, teaching, going on outreach, and helping people grow in their relationship with God before they're sent to the nations.
Outside of DTS, we're involved in local evangelism, school leaver outreaches, and planning community gatherings where people can encounter the love of God. We love creating opportunities to share the gospel in practical, everyday ways and encouraging others to step out in faith alongside us.Looking ahead, another big dream we have on our hearts is to establish a worship and prayer room at our YWAM base in Perth. We believe that lasting and transformative mission flows from intimacy with God, and our desire is to see worship and prayer become the foundation that strengthens every ministry and every missionary who is sent out.
We're also carrying a growing heart for remote Australia. We believe God is moving powerfully there and we're excited to continue building relationships, supporting local communities, and partnering with what He's already doing. Our prayer is to see people encounter Jesus, disciples made, and healthy local churches strengthened for generations to come.
